The Young's Blog
I tried to make cinnamon sugar sourdough bread and it still didn't turn out like I thought. The kids still wouldn't eat it which was my goal. AND it was a lot of work. So fail on that part but hoping to try bagels next and I have heard they are easier and better.
Greg had his 44th birthday! He doesn't like celebrating his birthday but I think this year he enjoyed the kids making it special. His birthday was on a Monday and so we celebrated the weekend before. He had a scavenger hunt and we took him mini golfing. Greg and I got to go out to eat Saturday night and then he watched a Cyclones win. Then we celebrated his birthday dinner of "daddy's steak" on Wednesday when we didn't have any activities. Grandma came over and brought angel food cake which was delicious and the kids loved it! I would say he had a good birthday!
Claire loves Emerson! It was cute watching them play at the boy's soccer game.
On our walk home from dropping the boys off at school Claire decided she wanted to play football with Carly and Emerson. I am not sure if they would want to play with her but it was cute to hear!
I found a mermaid costume at Costco and Claire loves it! She says she is going to be a mermaid for Halloween and that better stick because I am not buying another costume!
I had to park and walk in with the boys one morning because Blake had a big snack box and Claire ran right up wanting to hold her brothers hands. It was so sweet!
We made a last minute decision to go to the Timberwolves/76ers pre season game at Wells Fargo. Grant had a blast and loved it. Blake was tired since it was on a Friday night and was ready to go home after the first quarter.
After the NBA game we came home and Claire cuddled right up to Grant. She loves her brothers but especially loves Grant. They have a cute and special bond. I think he has more patients with her and understands how young she is and Blake still just gets frustrated.
We finished the football season and Grant had his best game the last of the season! Grant finally scored a touchdown, pulled some flags and threw some touchdown passes. He loved it and loved playing with his friends from school!
Claire watched Blake and Claire on Sunday so Greg and I could go to Grant's soccer game. It was cold so it was a good choice for them to stay home. When Claire woke up from her nap she wanted to read Nana's book! It sounds like she can read all the words. She is a preschool genius!
Claire has been wanting to paint her fingernails for awhile now. We finally bought some at Target and she loves it! She HAD to have her nails painted for dance class too. She gets frustrated because the color falls off so quickly. I see a nail salon visit here in our future. She is such a girly girl!
Claire started dance! She is doing Discovery dance: ballet and tap. She was so excited and love it! We started a few weeks late but it is Thursday mornings so it will be perfect for something to do on her days off from preschool.
We went to the pumpkin patch after an early out. It was a beautiful and and not busy at all. Grant saw 2 of his friends and had a blast playing with them. He would rather of hung out with them than his family. That day I was dreading is officially here. Overall, we had a lot of fun and no meltdowns until the end when we were leaving. I will call today a success.
Claire has gotten into the habit of waiting to poop and then pooping in her diaper right before bed. So we are celebrating any time she actually poops in the potty. She has started pooping in the potty again and we are so happy!
Claire loves Carly. They have so much fun together and it is so fun to watch them play.
I love these naptime cuddles when I get them. I know they won't be there much longer so I take them while I can.
Grant finished his soccer season. He has really started loving defending. The coaches had a lot of nice things to say about Grant. They said he was the best defended they had. Grant's team was really good. It was a rough start since Grant didn't know anyone but he made friends by the end and had fun!
Claire has been having more play dates lately! Emerson came over one evening to play with Claire. Claire struggled to share her toys but I think she was just tired.
Uncle Mit got Claire to say "GO HAWKS!"
Blake wanted to wear a gold chain just like Grant! He only wore it one day but it was cute to see.
Carly and Claire love dressing up in their costumes. They are super hero princesses!
The older community across the street had trick or treating on the Saturday before Halloween. Grant had a blast. His friend Theo came over and we went with the Cloe's. Claire did great (even though it was during nap time) but just at a much slower pace than the boys. Blake was not having it. He was scared to tell a joke.
We carved pumpkins and the kids loved designing their pumpkins. Some of the designs are more than Mom and Dad could do but I think they turned out great!
Clarie loves playing hide and seek lately. This is how Greg decided to hide and Claire thought it was hilarious!
We went to trick or treat at Uncle Peter's work again and the kids had so much fun. They look forward to this every year. Grant was brave this year and went in the scary part. He was proud of himself!
Claire went with Emerson to dance class and had a blast! Emerson does Acro and hip hop and I think that is more entertaining for Claire than ballet and tap.
Trick or treating was delayed this year due to rain so we had it on actual Halloween. It was colder than it has been but wasn't too bad. The kids had a BLAST! The boys were hard to keep up with because they were going so fast. We got SO much candy!
