Sixth Month

We celebrated Easter this month and were able to spend the weekend with both families.  Grandma Young had a fun filled Easter egg hunt on Saturday afternoon.  Greg and I made our second holiday dinner and it definitely went better than the first (Thanksgiving).  Sunday, we spent the morning at church and Grant slept through most of the mass! Papa was able to work the magic to get him to sleep.  We had dinner at Nana and Papa’s house and were able to spend the evening outside on the deck.  It was such a nice Easter.

Papa with the sleeping baby!

The Chalik’s at church!

My favorite little family.

I had my first night away from Grant this month.  Let me just say, I was a little bit of a mess when Greg and Grant left to go to Grandma and Grandpa’s house for the night.  I had Jackie’s bachelorette party and Greg had James’s wedding in Minneapolis for the night.  Grandma and Grandpa Young were nice enough to watch Grant for us.  Grant did great and I did…okay…too.😉

Grant officially rolled over!  Greg and I were ecstatic the first time.  He had been trying for SO long but couldn’t get all the way over.  After he figured it out, he was rolling over all the time!

Grant is starting to sit up well this month also.  He does need some help and will tumble over often.

We started baby food this month.  So far we have just tried vegetables and he has liked them all!  He has yet to turn down food, just like his parents ;-).

I stopped breastfeeding this month.  Stopping was quite painful and miserable for multiple reasons.  My breasts were, of course, painful and rock hard for about one week. I would mark this down as the worst part of breastfeeding overall.  I was also very sad to give up my special time with my baby.  The only time our busy boy would cuddle is after our last feeding of the night.  He would fall asleep and cuddle on our chests for 20 minutes or so.  Best part of our day by far.  Now that it is only bottles, he doesn’t fall asleep and cuddle like that anymore.  Sad mama here.  In the end, it was worth it to stop.  I was able to have more time and felt like a better mother overall.

Giggles with Daddy!

We saw the doctor this month and Grant is right on track with milestones.  He head is growing the most (thanks Dad!) and is now 90%, he is 78% for weight and 60% for height.

We went to Ames again for 6 month pictures.  Again, we fell in love with the pictures.  We have such a handsome little boy.

Grant is on Hive Pack Hoops and it has been a frustrating season for the team. It was fun to watch Grant score a free throw though. He was so proud of himself!

I caught Claire playing in with the hot wheels cars while playing in her brother's Captain America mask. So cute!

I tried to make cinnamon sugar sourdough bread and it still didn't turn out like I thought. The kids still wouldn't eat it which was my goal. AND it was a lot of work. So fail on that part but hoping to try bagels next and I have heard they are easier and better.

Carson invited Blake to go to the pool with him and Blake had a blast (even if the picture doesn't show it!)

I caught a sweet video of Claire with Chase and Marshall kissing. She is so sweet.
