The Young's Blog
Claire is really into dress up these days and found the boys costumes. She put on this mask and called herself "Princess America"!
Claire had her first day of preschool at Little Friends! She was so excited and not nervous at all! She did not even care when I left for the day. I was nervous to send her because she has all her friends at ACW but since I am home right now it doesn't make sense to keep her there. We have heard great things about this preschool so I hope it is a good move!
Nana came with me to pick up Claire so she could see how it worked. Nana came home with us after so she could pick up the boys too and Claire fell asleep on her. Nana was falling asleep too!
Claire is doing so much better potty training. She wears underwear all the time now and just has a few accidents. She still struggles with pooping on the potty and especially getting all the poop out. We were so proud of her that she "got all her poop out." We are hoping she has it fully figured out in a few months and we can officially be done with diapers! We are so excited for that day!
Fall sports have started! Grant is doing soccer and football and Blake is doing soccer. Grant was quarterback for part of his first game and made some good plays to score a touchdown and extra points. Grant loves football but is not enjoying soccer this season. We tried WDM for something different and he has no friends on his team. We think this will be the last season of soccer for him.
Greg and I did not want to cook one night so we decided to go to Texas Roadhouse. I wouldn't say it was a relaxing experience but we got a few cute pictures of the kids. They all wanted to be sitting so they could see the phone. I guess the phone makes it okay to touch each other! It looks like Grant was just tolerating it for the picture though!
We have football night this Friday and so I took Claire with me to look for Waukee shirts. We found matching shirts (my first matching shirt with Claire!) and she had to put it on instantly! Grant got to run across the field before a high school football game. They then form a tunnel for the high school football players to go through. It was a beautiful and fun night.
We went to my coworkers wedding and it was outside on a farm. They had a big bounce house and the boys played football. Claire loved the live music. We should take her to listen to music more often!
Blake is 6! He is all about monster trucks right now and that is all he asked for. He wanted to monster truck scavenger hunt when he woke up on his birthday. Grant and I worked together to make it and he loved it. I think this will continue to be hit in our house. Grant and Claire were telling me what they wanted for their birthday scavenger hunt already. His birthday was on Sunday so we were able to celebrate the whole day with him. He is the sweetest and silliest little boy. We just love to celebrate him!
I love catching moments when the kids are all playing nicely and getting along. This doesn't happen often or for very long so it should be documented!
We went to our neighbor, Thomas's, birthday party. An ambulance and fire truck showed up and Claire loved it. Grant and Blake were too scared to go into either.
We had Blake's friend birthday party at Sky Zone the weekend after his birthday. He had 5 friends there and had a blast. They were running all over the place!
Claire has school until 1:00. I try to get her to take a nap right away so she is awake by the time I pick up the boys from school. She fights the naps and this day she fell asleep 10 minutes before I had to leave to get boys. I successfully transferred her into the car and then to her room after picking up the boys!
Claire had picture day at preschool and she was so excited to wear her new dress and shoes! We haven't gotten the pictures back but I am excited to see how they turn out.
Blake was the secret star one day at school! Blake was so excited. That means he was listening well during carpet time. He also filled his first punch card! He is getting used to the rules at school and is doing so much better now. He is still very tired but his behavior at school is better.
I went on a cousin trip to Austin. It was a fun trip to have us all (minus Tim) together. We hung out at the pool, went to some nice restaurants and a bat tour.
Greg was home with the kids and did well. It is a busy time for us so Greg had a lot of help from his mom. She took one of the boys separate mornings so Greg only had 2 kids. She also helped him get to all the sporting games that weekend. I was sad to miss out and I was happy to be home.
The boys had Run for the Hills! Grandma and Greg went to watch them run. The boys had a blast running!
